Corporate & Social Responsibility

As a firm we know and love Waltham Cross, the place we’re proud to call home. We’re in a fortunate position to be able to make a positive impact on not only our staff, but the local community and beyond.

In setting out our policy for the first time we’re committing to delivering on three key areas:

Charitable Events

Historically Thickbroom have used our position with connections in all sectors to promote and raise funds for charities close to our employees.

Our most recent event saw us take part in Action Medical Research’s ‘Race the Sun’ triathlon style challenge in the Lake District.

This consisted of 40 mile cycle, a challenging 2 mile canoe then an 11 Mile hike up Mount Skiddaw.

We are incredibly proud that we not only completed the challenge, but were the top fundraising team across the event, raising an incredible £7,305.00

This would not have been possible without our ongoing support of our clients. With future exciting and challenging events planned in, watch this space.

Employee Wellbeing & Development

With the advances Thickbroom have made with technology and IT infrastructure, Thickbroom have been happy to support members of staff with flexible working agreements which has enabled employees to maintain a positive work/life balance whilst supporting the needs of their family.

We are also committed to supporting our employees throughout their professional careers. From trainees to established members of staff we provide both in-house and external training. We also provide study leave and home working setup for all staff to be able to react to the challenges life throws at us.

All of this with the intention to make Thickbroom a fulfilling and rewarding workplace.

Community & Environment

We aim to build a culture that encourages and empowers our employees to focus on the wider picture.

We have taken on a number of work experience placements from schools in the local community over the years hoping to inspire a future career in accountancy.

Thickbroom’s business plan, laid out in March 2022, was to implement a comprehensive apprenticeship scheme, to reach out to the local Schools and community and offer training and support to anyone looking to develop skills in an industry they haven’t experienced before.

We also focus on cutting our waste. From pushing for paperless systems such as our online approval system ‘OpenSpace’, going from personal single-use business cards to generic multi-use ones, and digital Christmas cards with the savings being donated to a chosen charity.
